To Recruit or To Be Recruited: Lessons Learned from the EvidenceNOW Large Scale Recruiting Experience

EvidenceNOW is a large national initiative funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to support primary care practices in modernizing their care and improving cardiovascular preventive care, enrolling over 1500 practices across 12 US states. We spoke with both recruiters and practice leaders to learn what it takes to engage a practice, and why a practice would or would not want to participate in such an experience.

Making or obtaining commitment to a large new initiative  is hard – whether you are recruiting practices, or are a practice being recruited. We all want to provide and receive the best possible patient care. Initiatives, such as EvidenceNOW, that focus on improving patient care can help with that. But sometimes lack of time, resources, or other concerns, hold a practice back from participating.
